Welcome to The Little Claymores U10

My name is Britt McTammany and I am head coach of The Little Claymores youth soccer team with the Clay County Soccer Club.  On behalf of myself, coach Greg Carmichael and team mom and my wife Laura McTammany, we would like to welcome you to our U10 team.  For those of you that are returning, welcome back.  For our new players and families we hope you have a great season playing with us.

Our team philosophy is to have fun learning the best game on the planet... soccer.  Between Greg and myself, we have been either playing or coaching soccer for over 50 years combined and have been coaching the Little Claymores since U5... with this being our 9th season.  For most of you this will be your first season playing U10 and will pose lots of exciting challenges for our team.  Coach Greg and myself are really excited to further develop your individual skills and begin to teach the more advanced tactical aspect of the game.

PRACTICES:
Practices will be Tuesdays at 6:30 and Sundays at 4:00 both at the Clay County Soccer Club in Eagle Harbor.  Please bring shin guards, soccer specific boots (cleats), plenty of liquid refreshment (water is usually best), a size 4 ball with ample air and a great attitude to have some fun.  Practice session are between and hour and hour and a half depending on how much fun the kids are having and we ask that you be there ready to play at the designated start time.

We realize that weekdays pose challenges do to homework requirements so please do not hesitate to leave early to fulfill these responsibilities.  We also ask that you are there to pick up your kids promptly at the end of practice.

GAMES:
The schedule is not yet out but as soon as it is delivered to me I will forward it to all of you.  I would like for everyone to be at the field dressed, and ready to warm up 30 minutes prior to the game time.  We also do snacks after every game and my wife Laura will be coordinating with each of you to make that happen.

END OF SEASON PARTY:
At the end of every season we have a party at the fields after that last game with snacks, cupcakes and medals/trohies for all the kids.  About mid way through the season we will have a better handle on pricing for the medals and can coordinate that with you.  We typically try to stay in the $8-$12 range per kid so as to not break the bank.

CONDUCT:
For the best interest of the children we and the club asks that you be on your very best behavior during games.  It’s hard enough for these young boys and girls to concentrate but when people are screaming and yelling from the sidelines it can be very difficult.  Cheering and positive encouragement is always welcomed but please refrain from giving specific instruction to the kids on the field during the game.

In addition, the club has made it very clear that profanity and abusive behavior on or off the field will not be tolerated.

Please reply to this email so that I know you have received it.  For many of you I do not have telephone contact information too so please send that just in case.  The primary form of communication will be via our website at http://thelittleclaymores.blogspot.com/ or email.  I make my best effort to keep the information up to date on the blog especially the weather information for practices and games.  Unless there’s lightning, a hurricane or flooded fields we will practice and have games.

Thanks again for your support and we look forward to seeing everyone at our first official training session this Sunday afternoon.  On Sundays, since the club is typically closed, we practice on the fields nearest the school located just before the main entrances to the club.

Sincerely,

Britt McTammany
THE LITTLE CLAYMORES

CCSC GENERAL RULES & REGULATIONS

SHIN GUARDS
Shin guards are mandatory at both practices and games. If your child does not have them they will not be allowed to play. Not only is this an insurance related issue but none of us want our children injured during the course of play. Please get shin guards that fit properly and are comfortable.

UNIFORMS
The uniforms are the same as last year. If you are new to the club and paid for your uniforms thru the Blue Sombrero registration, your uniforms will be at the CCSC Club House which will be open from 5-7 starting on Monday, August 25th.

Black & white jerseys are HOME, Red and White jerseys are AWAY. I will be posting a schedule that will be very clear as to which jerseys we will need for each game but please bring both just in case of a game day change.

MANDARORY VOLUNTEERISM
The CCSC is requiring volunteer assistance in several areas to help offset new costs associated with operating the league and maintaining the field and facilities.

Concession stand
The first is duty at the concession stand. Each team is required to provide 4-6 volunteers once through out the season to man the stand. When I get more information on this I will post it here on the blog.

Field set-up and take-down
Second will be assistance with setting up and taking down the fields. Each team will be required to set-up a field on Friday evening according to a schedule yet to be posted. The duties included in setting up the field as lining the field, moving, staking and setting up the goals as well as placing the corner flags.

If our team is the last to play on game day we will be responsible for un-staking and moving the goals and putting the flags into the equipment shed.

Field Clean-up
If you see garbage on the ground, please help keep the facilities clean by picking it up and throwing it away.

Field Marshall
Each home team will be required to designate a Field Marshall responsible primarily for acting as an emergency contact between the field and the club house. You will wear an orange vest and carry a radio. In the case of an emergency you will be the point of contact that will get 911 on the scene and help communicate the situation to club officials.

The Field Marshall is also responsible for communicating with the club house regarding unruly behavior on the part of parents and spectators and making sure the field is clean after the game. When I receive more information and assignments from the club I will post them here.
